CLASS OF 1982 HOLDS 25th REUNION

St. Marc Graduates Celebrate Silver Jubilee

1982 graduates of Alexandria's famous Saint Marc College, held a reunion to celebrate the passing of 25 years since their graduation (their Silver Jubilee).

The meeting took place at St. Marc premises in Shatby, Alexandria, on Friday July 6th . There was a morning gathering, followed by a tour of the school. There were obviously new developments over the years, such as PCs and data show in classes, a state of the art gym (similar to those you find in 5star hotels), and internet/computer labs. The graduates, all now in their early forties, were pleased to find the school premises well maintained and kept, and along the tour, they insisted on getting into one of the classes and sitting on pupils desks.

The reunion was also attended by the school's Director and two previous Directors. Additionally, some of the teachers who over the years (70s and early 80s) instructed the 1982 graduates, were kind enough to show up at the event. Overall a very sentimental gathering.

A large number of the Class of 82 still lives in Alexandria, others in Cairo while some are currently working in the Arab Gulf, Lebanon or have emigrated to France, the US and Canada.

By mid day, one of the graduates (Alaa Orgy), who owns Alexandria Country Club, invited the whole group for Lunch at his club.

Times have obviously changed, and each has progressed in his own career path, however they all shared the pleasure of meeting again, and catching up with friends and ex teachers.

Plans are under way for the 30th reunion.
