Ibda'a Media Student Awards
announced
Dubai Media City was launched
in January 2001 to become a regional centre for media activity whether it be
Music, News Media, Broadcasting and so on. The infrastructure and services
offered by the city has encouraged several leading media companies to relocate
their headquarters to Dubai Media City. These include companies like Reuters,
CNN, CNBC's Middle East Business News; Middle East Broadcasting Corporation (MBC),;
Sony Broadcast and Professional and Saudi Research and Publishing (SRPC) etc….
The
Dubai Media City is announcing its second Annual Ibda'a Media Student Awards.
Its mission is the discovery, showcasing and recognition of exceptional student
media talent in the region. Named after the Arabic word for creativity, the
Ibda'a Awards seek talented candidates from all over the region; the Middle East
to the Indian subcontinent and South Africa to the CIS countries.
The
2002 Awards has added a new category which is the Animation to the list of seven
categories, Thus they become:

Radio Magazine

Graphic Design
-
Journalism
-
Advertising
-
Film-making
-
TV Documentary
-
Animation

The entries will be judged by a panel of distinguished experts selected form
related business to evaluate originality, style and impact. The awards will be
training programs and workshops with reputable media organizations like CNN
London, Disney Dubai, Virgin Radio, Saatchi & Saatchi and Gulf News.
Who should apply?
Ibda'a is open to all university students in both their junior and senior years.
All projects should be
submitted to Dubai Media City no later than September 15th 2002.

All entries have to be
authorized by the head of the institution and department. Care should be taken
to respect the religion and the prevailing culture of the region.
Distastefulness and disrespect will result in immediate disqualification.
Entries must be submitted in English and films and documentaries may be
subtitled.
Participating students are requested to read the rules and regulations
thoroughly. Entries not adhering to them will be disqualified and the judges'
decision will be final.
