30 SHELL SCHOLARSHIPS!
Covering graduate studies @ Cambridge

The Shell Centenary Scholarship Fund (SCSF) offers postgraduate students from developing countries the opportunity to study in the UK and gain skills that will make a long-term contribution to the further development of their countries. Each year students from all around the world are given one-year full-cost scholarships. The program also aims to increase cross-cultural understanding by stimulating international exchange, and to strengthen links between Britain and the countries concerned.

The program is a partnership with the university of Cambridge, who also contribute to the funding. A number of scholarships are also jointly funded with the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, as part of its Chevening program, and are known as Shell Centenary Chevening Scholarships.

It is the intention that the scholarships be widely geographically distributed. In each year a large number of countries will be represented. Scholarships will be awarded to those academically qualified applicants thought best able to contribute to the development of their home country by becoming leaders, decision-makers or opinion-formers. Preference will be given to those who have not yet had the opportunity to study in the UK.

Candidates for these scholarships must normally meet the following criteria:

  • Be aged under 35.
  • Be nationals of and resident in a country which is not in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and not one of the following:
    the Czech Republic, Hungary, Mexico, Poland, the Slovak Republic or Turkey;
  • Be fluent in spoken and written English
  • Be of outstanding academic ability and have obtained, or expect to obtain shortly, a degree equivalent to a first class honors degree at a British university.
  • Not be a current or former employee of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies.
