“Your Passport To Professionalism” by skill-link.com
skill-link.com has just published, in cooperation with the Guézira Rotaract Club of Egypt, a guide for job seekers addressing various issues related to approaching employment opportunities. This guide, the first of its kind to be published in the Arab world covers numerous topics, ranging from writing a professional CV to interviews and follow up letters. Plenty of useful samples and tips are provided to the readers.
Aiming at helping readers with valuable tips and information related to their professional career,
“Your Passport To Professionalism” is divided into five main chapters addressing resume writing, covering letters as well as tips on interviewing techniques, personal testing and profiles of senior executives in a variety of professions.
The contributors defined at the beginning of the book the anatomy of a resume in order to help young professionals and soon to graduate university students to present a proper document when applying for a job:
“ A resume may be one or two pages. Brevity is important in writing a resume, but not at the expense of accuracy and completeness. An experienced candidate may well want to use two pages. For most traditional-aged students seeking their first full-time career job or cooperative education position, one page is recommended. Employers typically spend only seconds scanning a resume in the initial screening. It is critical that it be visually pleasing with the most pertinent information readily available at a glance. The basic components of a resume are your identification data, education, experience, extracurricular activities, skills and references. The objective can be included or left to the cover letter. There are no rules to what is mentioned first, although it is preferable to begin with your strongest points. So, before you start, remember the one golden rule of resume construction: you are creating a document of which you will be proud to say, “This is me.”
