In Commemoration Of the 81st Anniversary Of Banque Misr
skill-link.com Chairman, Sherif Samy, was invited on the NILE TV (May 7th) to talk about Banque Misr and its founder Talaat Harb. In this half hour program - broadcasted on the 81st anniversary of the bank - Sherif Samy discussed the challenges facing the creation of this financial institution, the first in the history of the Arab countries to be owned by locals. Such a move was not welcomed by the British 'colonial' authorities occupying Egypt at the time. He also shed some light on the personality and achievements of the bank's founder Talaat Harb. The late Talaat Harb (1867 - 1941) paid particular care to the selection and training of his staff; whenever Banque Misr would establish a new company, he would personally hand pick its managers and send them for training in Europe or the US to ensure the best know how was acquired
.

Sherif Samy also mentioned, how Talaat Harb valued business / commerce education, he was quoted in a speech he delivered in the early 30s of the previous century to the students of the Cairo Faculty of Commerce, saying "while most of you joined this faculty because you couldn't enroll in other disciplines that seem to you more attractive, I believe the best should be obtaining commercial education, nations advance and prosper by having skilled / smart managers more than any other discipline".
