The Faculty of Economics & Political Sciences (Cairo Univ.) invited skill-link.com’s Chairman, Sherif Samy, to talk to the students about how to enhance their employability and their value in the job market.
The session that - that took place on April 26th 2001 - was started in a lecture format and ended in a Q & A exchange. The heavy attendance demonstrated how eager soon to graduate students are with regards to the employment market.
Among the topics discussed in skill-link.com’s presentation, that lasted close to one and a half hours:
- Do university grades matter ?
- the best chances could be for jobs not advertised (how to find out about them)
- knowing the job you are applying for;
- the cover letter could be more important than the resume itself
- preparing for the interview;
- personal conduct during the interview
- don’t be shy to ask questions and to get clarifications from your potential employer
- interesting fields of employment (sectors and functions) in the first decade of the 21st century
