The Emirate TV channel, Business Channel of Dubai, hosted on February 24th one of skill-link members, Heba Ali de Marissens- Country Manager. The company has established its office in UAE last January and is planning to start its operations in Kuwait in April 2001.



What number of corporate are you targeting to subscribe with you in the UAE?
All!!! We have just started to be operable in the UAE three or four weeks ago and we have not started yet our advertising campaign. However, we have a number of reputable companies who have already subscribed and the reaction of corporate we have paid visits to is really encouraging.
It is great if anyone says we have thousands of subscribers, but the question is how much the corporate depends on the service or how often do they use it.

With the recession increasing here we know that many companies are complaining that e-commerce does not work or it represents a minor percentage of their business. What do you think?
E-business does not work as expected because it involves money and due to lack of confidence, people refrain from using it. Our business does not involve any on-line financial deals. Once a corporate subscribes, he pays the subscription fees using the usual method of payment.

Why do you think your company would be useful in this part of the world?
We are Arabs so privacy and confidentiality are very important for us, especially for women. A candidate will feel absolutely safe and confident when she, and also he, knows that his name is not available to anybody, as we blind the name of current and previous employers.

We know that Bayt.com is now working on having their site to be in Arabic. Will you do the same?
I think everybody knows that computer and Internet are very important now. If you do not catch up with what is going around you in the world, you will be finished.  I am sure you know that all university graduates and even young students are spending a lot of time in front of their P.C.s. Which language do you think they use?
Any one who is keen to develop his/ her skills and to have a decent career should update his/her information and one of the fastest method is to search the web

In addition to that famous and most visited sites are in English. A person who is basic or average in English could surf the web and search for news or whatever. Do not forget that we are dealing mainly with university graduates and if they are not fluent in English then at least they can communicate in English. English language is mandatory in school
