"SALARY TRENDS 2003" IN EGYPT

skill-link.com's Chairman, Sherif Samy was invited by the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt (AMCHAM), to conduct a presentation on "Salary Trends in 2003". The well attended event, held on October 22nd 2003, was organized by the Human Resources Committee.

In his presentation, skill-link.com's CEO addressed a number of issues related to salaries in Egypt, namely:

  • The salary within the total compensation context
  • What employers have to offer beyond cash compensation
  • How salaries are determined in Egypt, in many cases subjectively.
  • The 'objective" methods for salary formulation.
  • The starting salary for university graduate in the private sector.
  • Salary averages for a number of functions at various experience levels, segmented by company size and type.
  • Key sectors were salaries are unjustifiably low, and how this is affecting Egypt.
  • Salary surveys: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
  • Why Egypt has no reliable salary surveys ?
  • The Egyptian Pound dramatic devaluation and how this is affecting salaries in Egypt.

The event lasted a little over two hours, and concluded with a free "Question & Answer" session.
