The weekly Egyptian
business newspaper "Al Mal" interviewed
skill-link.com about the impact of the Egyptian
Pound devaluation on salaries and the employment
prospects of Egyptians abroad, namely in the Arab
Gulf.

Sherif Samy, skill-link.com's
Chairman was quoted at length in the November 2nd
2003 issue commenting on how most Egyptians were
negatively impacted by the devaluation. While
employment in the Gulf became more lucrative, ie.
higher pay in LE, opportunities are still selective.
"We will not see the massive recruitment that
were witnessed in the 1980s and early 1990s" he
added. "The more positive trend that could
emerge, would be the establishment of offshore call
center, and business operations outsourcing centers
in Egypt, to benefit from the relatively low
salaries and skill availability", he added.
