El Ghadban on Channel 2
On Tuesday September 11th
2001, Alaa El Ghadban, skill-link.com Managing Director was a guest speaker on
Egyptian TV Channel 2 last week. The business program "The Index"
invited a panel of 3 senior executives to discuss the prospects of new
economy companies (dot coms).
The main theme was how
successful Internet businesses are, in light of the many failures these
companies have suffered around the world. It was agreed that a solid business
model, i.e. offering real value to users and paying customers is paramount.
Mr. Yasser El Mallawany,
Chairman of CIIC (the largest private equity investment company in Egypt) and
another guest of the program, stressed the importance of having a long-term view
on such ventures. They cannot be judged today he said, the important thing is
that they have a path to profitability. Mr. El Mallawany mentioned that

experience (recruitment) with a new approach (online) that adds convenience to
