skill-link.com
on Nile TV
The Egyptian Nile TV (Variety Channel) aired
last week a program featuring online recruitment.
In the program taped in skill-link.com premises, skill-link.com Chairman, Sherif
Samy discussed how online recruitment is emerging in Egypt and the Arab world.
He stated the main benefits of using the internet in recruitment compared to
newspapers’ advertised job vacancies or using employment agencies. The main
advantages for recruiters in using a service such as skill-link.com lies in the
speed (no delays in publishing and waiting for mailed applications); relevance
(since the search tools on the net allows the recruiter to specify the exact
criteria he/she is seeking) and obviously the cost efficiency (since the cost of
subscribing to an online recruitment service for a whole year are usually less
than 10% of a reasonable ad in a daily newspaper appearing only once).
Online recruitment is also more convenient to
job seekers, since it offers them more confidentiality, saves them the time,
effort and cost of applying to numerous vacancies and more importantly exposes
them to employers who have job vacancies that are never advertised.
The program presenter, asked if job seekers pay any fees to be listed on
skill-link.com, Sherif Samy responded by stating that a key pillar for success
was to keep the service free for employment seekers, only companies using the
service would pay a small fee. This, he added, is to attract the best candidates
to be listed with skill-link.com. If they had to pay money for it, only the very
desperate would list.
A candidate who found a job through
skill-link.com (Sherif Moussa) appeared on the program to discuss his experience
with online recruitment. In the beginning, he was not sure it would yield
results, but he was positively surprised to be called for an interview and land
a good job with a financial advisory company working in the field of investors
relations.
