AMIDEAST
Cairo is soliciting applications for the Ford Foundation International
Fellowships Program (IFP) for Egypt. The IFP provides fellowships for graduate
studies (up to 3 years) to exceptional individuals who will use their education
to further development in their own countries and greater social and economic
justice worldwide.
The International Fellowships Program, which
AMIDEAST administers in Egypt and Palestine, will offer for the 2004 / 2005
academic year 21 fellowships: 16 for Masters degrees and 5 for Doctorate degrees
(Ph. D.) in any university around the world, including Egypt.
In addition to providing financial assistance
for travel, living expenses and tuition, IFP also offers preliminary short-term
training including language instruction, workshops on research skills, and
computer training.
A total of 42 students-21 Egyptians and 21
Palestinians-were selected in 2002 and will begin their studies at universities
throughout the world in 2003.
Since the 1950s, the Foundation has granted an
estimated $365 million to enable some 30,000 individuals from more than 70
countries to pursue graduate education.
To apply to the Ford Foundation's International
Fellowships Program, you must comply with the following requirements:
1. Egyptian citizen residing in Egypt
2. Hold a university degree
3. Be active in social or developmental activities
4. Have at least 2 years of work experience
5. Be eager to pursue graduate studies
6. Commit to working in Egypt after completion of the program
There is no age limit for applying to the
program.
